How ‘comment contests’ improve social visibility
Social contests create interaction that goes way beyond the “like”, and they are a great way to increase your organic reach on Facebook.
In a recent project for the San Antonio Talons, we used a multiple-choice question to accomplish two objectives.
• First, the promotion offers the audience a chance to win 4 tickets for an upcoming Halloween attraction at Sea World San Antonio by participating in a comment-to-win scenario. This comment-driven action taken by the audience leads to increased visibility on news feeds.
• Second, the call to response is presented in a multiple-choice format with links to educate the audience on the 3 new attractions. In addition to increased awareness, we also received instant feedback on the various attractions.
The results: In just 24 hours, over 200 participants had an online discussion about Sea World’s latest attraction, with an organic reach of over 10,300. By asking a question with the correct supporting graphics, links and contest software, we increased awareness of both the San Antonio Talons and Sea World’s Howl-O-Scream event.
